Corn Free Powdered Sugar

Another surprise...corn in powdered sugar?!!  Yep!  In the form of cornstarch!  Here's how to make your own.  However, if you can find them, Whole Foods 365 brand and Safeway "O Organics" brand are corn free, using tapioca starch instead of cornstarch.

1 cup superfine sugar
1 tablespoon starch (tapioca/arrowroot/potato)

Using a spice mill or clean coffee grinder, whir this mixture in batches until superfine like powdered sugar.  The food processor doesn't work for this, sorry, I tried!

  1. Did you know you can purchase corn free powdered sugar year round at Safeway stores? It is their own organic brand "O" and it uses tapioca starch.
